The short version
Share your referral link and both you and your friend get 50% off one month when they sign up through it. You can refer up to 5 friends per month and need an active plan to refer. If a referee refunds within the 7-day guarantee, the referral credit does not stand.
#How it works
Every Hostd account with an active plan has a personal referral link in Dashboard → Referrals. Share it. When someone:
- Signs up through your link, AND
- Pays their first invoice,
both of you get 50% off one month added to your Stripe account balance. It applies automatically to your next invoice, no code to enter. The credit is sized to half the monthly price of the smaller plan between the two of you, so whether you pay monthly, quarterly, or annually, the reward is a fixed half-month, never a whole year's subscription.
#Up to 5 friends per month
You can earn rewards on up to 5 referrals in any 30-day window. Beyond that, additional referrals still credit your friend, and your half is queued as a pending credit that applies as the older ones age out.
#You need an active plan to refer
Referral codes are only issued to accounts with an active server. If you don't have a plan, no code is generated and signups against it won't link, so you can't bank credits to spend later.
If your plan lapses, your code is retired and new signups against it are rejected. Should an already-linked referee pay their first invoice after you've lapsed, your half is held as a pending credit and applies automatically when you re-subscribe (within 90 days).
#If your referee refunds within 7 days
The reward is automatically voided, matching our refund guarantee. We claw back any still-unused balance credit from both sides. If you've already consumed the credit on a renewal, we only reverse what's still available, you don't end up owing us anything.
#The fine print
- One reward per pair. Friend can't pay, refund, and re-sign-up to farm you.
- Self-referrals don't count. Same email is blocked, as is referring someone who already referred you.
- If they refund within 7 days, the reward is voided.
- Pending credits expire after 90 days if they can't be applied.

How does the Hostd referral program work?

Do I get credit if my friend cancels?
Not if they refund within the 7-day money-back window, since the referral was not completed in any meaningful sense. Normal cancellations after that do not claw anything back.
Is there a limit on referrals?
Five per month. The cap is there to keep the programme aimed at people telling their friends rather than at anyone building a side business out of it.
